Tue 12 May 2026 — Phase 1 Day 2
Tue 12 May 2026 — Phase 1 Day 2
Establish trade-mark feasibility before Tech Transfer meets, and build a credible KTP target list.
Tasks
Task 1 — UKIPO clearance search for RAIDT
Stream: A — IP & Brand
Time: 30 min
What: Run a free UKIPO trade-mark search at https://www.gov.uk/search-trademark for "RAIDT" across classes 9, 16, 35, 41, 42. Note any prior marks (active or recently lapsed) that share the same root or sound similar (e.g., "RAID", "RAIDE", "RIDE-T"). Save the search result PDF to 06-Resources/.
Why this matters: Filing without clearance risks £370 wasted on a mark that gets opposed. RAIDT is a coined acronym so risk is low — but verify before Tech Transfer authorises.
Practical example: UKIPO search interface: enter "RAIDT" in the word-mark field, select all classes, search. If you see e.g. "RAID HOSTING LIMITED" in Class 42 software services, decide whether the goods/services overlap meaningfully — a different specification scope may make co-existence possible.
Done when: Search complete; PDF saved; one-line summary in Decisions-Log of "RAIDT clearance: clean / minor concerns / blocking conflict".

Task 2 — UKIPO clearance search for RAIT (high priority)
Stream: A — IP & Brand
Time: 45 min
What: Same process but for "RAIT" across classes 9, 35, 42. RAIT is a short word, so expect more potential conflicts. Check carefully across all 45 classes for any business name or surname conflict. Also check Companies House for existing UK companies named "RAIT".
Why this matters: If RAIT clashes with an existing mark or company in adjacent classes, you must rebrand the product now before any commercial outreach references it. Rebranding mid-pipeline is expensive.
Practical example: Likely conflicts to watch for: financial-services REIT-related marks, surname "Rait" used as a brand, real-estate companies. If a prior holder uses RAIT in Class 36 financial services, your Class 42 SaaS may co-exist — or you may need a co-existence agreement. Document each finding.
Done when: Search complete; any conflicts captured with Class and goods/services description; rebrand decision flagged in Decisions-Log if needed.

Task 3 — Build first KTP target list (10 names)
Stream: D — Partnerships
Time: 60 min
What: Identify ten specific named individuals at ten specific organisations across the three KTP outreach categories (audit firms, regulated sector, AI vendors). For each, find: name, role, LinkedIn, recent public statement on AI assurance/governance.
Why this matters: Generic outreach gets binned. Personalised outreach to a named human gets read. Ten well-researched targets beats fifty cold pings.
Practical example: For audit firms — search LinkedIn for "Trusted AI" + "KPMG UK", "Responsible AI" + "Deloitte UK", etc. Note the partner or director leading the practice. For regulated sector — check NHS Trust AI lead announcements (Imperial / Royal Free / Great Ormond Street commonly publish). For vendors — Holistic AI / Faculty AI / Trilateral leadership pages.
Done when: Spreadsheet (or Obsidian table) with 10 rows: Name | Org | Role | LinkedIn | Recent signal | Email-pattern guess.

Task 4 — Personalise first three outreach emails (drafts)
Stream: D — Partnerships
Time: 45 min
What: Pick the top 3 from the target list above. For each, draft a personalised outreach email using Outreach-Email-Template Templates 1–3. Save drafts in Outreach-Tracker but don't send yet — Friday is the send day.
Why this matters: Drafting tomorrow gives you cooling-off time before sending Friday. Cold emails sent in haste are full of typos and "we" when you mean "I". Drafts also let you check tone with a supervisor on Wednesday.
Practical example: Audit firm draft personalisation: "Your KPMG Trusted AI essay last week argued that EU AI Act readiness will hinge on evidence quality, not policy commitments. The gap between policy and run-level evidence is what RAIDT addresses." Specific, recent, on-topic.
Done when: Three drafts saved with personalisation lines that reference real public material the recipient has produced.
